Clean Disruption News: Henrik Fisker Debuts 400 Mile Range EMotion Electric Car to Compete with His Arch Rival, Tesla
Famed automotive designer hasn’t given up on electric drive just yet, unveiling his next design meant to compete with his arch rival, Tesla.
With a starting price tag of $129,000US, Karma Automotive’s EMotion luxury electric car is aiming for higher-end Tesla/Mercedes/Audi/BMW buyers. For that, you get a car that designer Henrik Fisker claims will provide a pacesetting range of 400 miles (not kilometer) on a charge.
The car’s new graphene-based battery design is a first, though it’s been in development for sometime now. Still, it’s largely untested in an automotive application. If it proves successful, it could be the breakthrough electric cars have been looking for. Additionally, the company which entirely separate from the Chinese-funded resuscitation of Henrik Fisker’s old company Fisker Automotive, claims a 9-minute fast charge can give the car an added 100 miles range.
While the exact location of where the car will be built has been announced, it’s believed it could be in Auburn Hills, Mi with a launch date as early as 2019.
The company will begin taking pre-orders in July.
