Who is Dr. Merc?

Dr. Merc was born in Slovenia in June 1976. After graduation with flying colours at Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, Merc joined Laboratory of Semiconductor Devices and Optoelectronics where he continued his post graduate study. By taking position of Research Assistant, his mayor was in semiconductor heterostructures. Successfully defending thesis on quantum mechanics, Merc received his Ph. D.

in 2005. During the study, Merc worked as hosting professor at Institute of Solid State Physics in Vienna, Austria.

In 2004, Merc started his research and development on industrial scaled c-Si solar cells.

A year later, in June 2006, BISOL was founded. As a co-founder, Merc took his present position of General Manager/Chief Executive Officer. His board responsibilities comprise Strategy, Investment, Business Development, Finance, Investor Relations, Public Relations, Solar Cell Purchasing, Research & Development, and Legal Affairs.

BISOL is the first Slovenian company being active in the field of photovoltaics at mass production level. Climate change and lack of commonly used sources of energy increase the concern about global warming and promote the efforts to achieve energetic independence. With the growing costs of fossil fuels, climate change is a strong motivation for efficient and prompt promotion of alternative sources of energy. Considering the long existence of mankind, sun is inexhaustible source of energy with the greatest potential.

BISOL produces high quality mono and multicrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules designed for both commercial and residential applications suitable for grid connected and stand alone systems. High output power modules consist of high quality, proven and certified materials. The current production capacity is 60 MW a year or 190.000 modules of peak power between 215 and 245 W.

Globally, as well as in Slovenia, there is a huge potential for exploiting solar power. Since the very beginning all modules have been tested and comply with the principal international standards IEC 61215 Ed.2 and IEC 61730 Ed.1, specially intended for photovoltaic modules. The certificate was granted to BISOL’s modules up to the highest 5.400 Pa loads, which is the maximum load at which the test are carried out. Relaying on the extremely high quality level of products based on strict criteria of quality control at each step of the production process, BISOL offers a 25-year guarantee on the output power of the modules. They are all labeled “Made in Slovenia” and find their place predominantly in diverse international markets where BIOSL is becoming more and more recognizable trade mark. BISOL’s products bear the label “PREMIUM QUALITY”.

In the coming years, BISOL wants to continue its fast growth exceeding average growth of the PV industry. In terms of production capacity, it is our goal to exceed 100 MW maximum production capacity, already by 2011.
